Although the town’s name may have come from the ancient Egyptian city, it is pronounced “Cay-roe” by locals, much like the clear Karo syrup used in southern confections. The local high school mascot is still The Syrupmakers to this day.
Known as one of the best places for tennis, Camilia, Georgia hosts the Camilia Pro Invitational Tennis tournament annually in April. Camilla has a variety of tennis courts, golf courses, and hunting ranches.
